Day 14 In an Instant

I was reminded today how much can change in an instant.  On my way to teach an early morning yoga class, I stopped at an intersection, and thinking it was clear, proceeded through when I was sideswiped by an oncoming truck.  My car spun around what felt like 100 times and ended up in somebody’s front yard.

Of course it could have been so much worse.  No one was hurt.  No property damage was done.  The only casualty was my poor SUV that I pray is not totaled.    After working for over 20 years in the emergency room, I don’t really believe there are accidents, just warning signs.  

So I heed my warning to pay attention.  Slow down.  Be more conscious and more awake.  I make a promise to leave earlier for every meeting to allow more time and drive defensively.  Because it can all change in an instant.
