Finding Your Happy Place

How is your Summer going?

When I ask this question, the answer I get alot is, ‘hot’, ‘busy’, or ‘too fast!’. While we can’t change the weather, we can choose how busy we feel, which affects how we feel about everything-including our summer.

I could easily respond to this question the same, but I say what I want to focus on: “I am getting a lot of great hiking in, which I love!”. Hiking feeds my soul and allows me to slow down to connect with the beauty and peace of nature and myself. Hiking is my Happy Place.

Where is your Happy Place?

It can be a physical space, like the beach, your garden or an art show, or the space you create to read, play the piano, draw, or snuggle with your dog. Finding your Happy Place is choosing to do something for yourself that fills you up, gives you energy and restores your hope and perspective, for 20 minutes or a whole day.

I honestly can’t believe it’s already August, but when I practice focusing on the trail, one foot in front of the other, instead of how hot or busy I am, I feel better about myself and my summer. You can too. Find your Happy Place and make the time and space to be there.

I love the mountains, too. and get to visit them during the summer.
Another happy place for me is my early morning walks in my neighborhood…..BEFORE it gets too hot. You hear the birds and see the clouds and gather my thoughts for organizing my day.

      Hi Lois,

I completely agree! I love early morning walks as well, before the noise of day begins.

      Thank you,
      Diane
