The Power of Retreating

I was reminded of the power of Retreating earlier this month when I spent the day with the Atrium Health Well-Being Coaches at the slow down, reflect, and recommit to what is most important. Read what a few Coaches shared about what the day meant to them:

1. Reset
It was a time to reset, recharge, change my perspective, and find encouragement on my journey. Today was totally cup filling and I’m so grateful for the reminder to focus on the things I can control.

2. Recommitment
The day was exactly what I needed to clear my head and get a renewed focus on my key priorities for work, home, and all the other activities I am involved in. I appreciated this time for myself to reconnect and recommit.

3. Reinvigorating
It was refreshing to be surrounded by like-minded people all working to better ourselves and create ripples of influence throughout our organization. Thank you for giving us the time to reinvigorate our spirits as well-being leaders, role models and coaches.

4. Presence
Sometimes you’re unaware of what you need until you experience it. Strolling through the serene garden, I was able to slow down and be fully present to step into a space where I could open my mind and heart again.

5. Connection
My favorite moment was the meditative walk in the gardens. It was such an eye opener to see how difficult it really is to slow down our bodies and minds and connect to ourselves and the beauty of the world around us.

Retreating for a week, day, or even an hour supports you to connect, engage, and energize yourself away from all the noise of your daily busy-ness. Create your own experience in a garden, museum, on a hiking trail, or any other place that supports you to escape the noise and find yourself again. That is the power of retreating.
