From CHAOS to CALM
Last night I gave my new program, CHAOS to CALM: Your Prescription From an ER Nurse Turned Yogi at Women, Wine and Wellness, a monthly networking event. A variety of women attended of all ages and businesses ranging from skin care to real estate to event planner. But even as we all had differences, we all shared a familiar challenge: too much to do and never enough time to do it – a good recipe for creating chaos in our lives.
As an ER Nurse for over 20 years and a recovering adrenaline junkie myself, I am all too familiar with the internal chaos that comes of trying to do more, better, faster by multi-tasking, over-scheduling, and over-committing. It keeps us frenetic and exhausted, and threatens our emotional and physical wellbeing.
We all agreed we are not at our best when we live in chaos. We are impatient, unfocused, stressed out, and left repeating the too common mantra, “I should have gotten more done today.” Precisely why we need to move from chaos to calm. It may seem counter-intuitive but by courting calm we can actually manifest more in our lives by doing less. Finding the calm center of our lives allows us to experience more:
Clarity
Awareness
Love
Meaning
And isn’t that what we all want? The secret of moving from chaos to calm in your life is simple, but not easy. It requires that we open to grace. You know I talk about this a lot, but judging from my experience last night (I sold my 30 Days to Grace CD to more than half the house and everyone commented how great they felt after experiencing a shortened version of the practice right there and then), it bears repeating.
Opening to grace means softening, grounding, and centering yourself on your highest intention – where you truly choose to put your focus. Opening to grace means opening to something bigger than yourself, a bigger energy, a greater potential. Opening to grace means going inside your heart instead of your head to ask for what you need most. Opening to grace is being present – right here, right now – no matter what is going on, and riding the waves of pulsation of life.
My program, 30 Days to Grace, offers a structured 30-minute daily practice that supports you in opening to grace. The CD guides you through deep breathing, yoga poses, meditation, and journaling to help you focus on your highest intention. What we focus on expands, which gives this daily practice the power to change lives, and has helped so many women realize their most heartfelt intentions, from losing weight to finding financial peace. But as I’ve also said before, ultimately the power to create a calm space in your life for focusing on your own highest goal rests with you, and you can achieve amazing results over time with as little as a 5-minute daily breathing break (what I call a “Grace Break”).
I can’t wait to hear how the amazing women I met last night will empower themselves and each other when they take the time to move from CHAOS to CALM. Are you willing to give it a try? I’d love to hear about your journey.
