The Choice of Well-Being

Well-Being is how you feel about yourself and what you do every day and Self-Leadership supports you to make the best choices to positively affect it. Self-Leadership, the foundation of the Well-Being Coaching Initiative empowers you to make better choices, by giving you the skills, structure and support to prioritize yourself. Read a couple of stories about choice from two recent Well-Being Graduates:

Taylor

Before this program, I worked 60 hours a week, was short-fused with my husband and toddlers, and binged on unhealthy food and TikTok to numb my stress. I devoted every minute to taking care of my team, patients and families, referral sources, facilities, and neglected myself. This program gave me the tools to make different choices to manage my stress. Now I exercise, get more sleep, and connect with my family instead of my phone. My team has noticed these positive changes, my husband says he has the woman back he married, and my kids say they love how mommy plays with them now.

Lindsey

I started the Well-Being Coaching Initiative skeptical, thinking, what could I possibly learn? I already knew how to take care of myself, I just didn’t have the time and if I spent time taking care of myself instead of others, I thought I would be selfish. Then I realized I didn’t need more time, I needed to make better choices with my time. Instead of beating myself up with doubt and negative thoughts, I got outside, shooed my inner critic away, and focused on all the good things about me instead of the bad. This changed everything because it supported me to shift how I view and feel about myself at work and at home.

The choice to prioritize yourself informs all of your well-being choices. You feel empowered when you are kinder to yourself, present to your needs, and do things that fill you back up instead of numb out. A great example of this is giving up social media for Lent, as one of my Coaches chose to do. Your well-being is that simple, and that hard, and the choice is always yours.
