5 Things I AM LEARNING

We are in our 13th month of (you know what) and I am tired—of Zooming, masking, and social distancing. I miss traveling to see clients and host yoga retreats, sleepovers with my grandchildren, and birthday lunches with girlfriends. I know there is light at the end of the tunnel, but I am impatient for it to be over.
Last May, when many of us thought we were turning the corner with the pandemic, I naively wrote COVID Recovery: 10 Things I Am Learning, so proud of my insight. Little did I know, we were not in recovery at all, but beginning a new phase with many more surges yet to come.
So here we are, still in it, grateful it is better and waiting for it to be done. I whittled my initial list down from 10 to 5 Things and changed it (bolded) as I know more after 13 months than I did in the first 3:
- When I slow down, I see, feel, and experience more; this includes joy and contentment as well as loss and loneliness.
- I enjoy cooking
and cleaningwhen I allow more time. - I miss seeing and celebrating my family now more than ever.
- I miss working with my clients onsite and can’t wait to get on a plane again!
- I like my husband more than I thought, even if he has coped with COVID fatigue much better than I have.
We still have more lessons, both personally and professionally, as we continue our journey since resilience requires us to continuously learn and grow. We don’t always know what we don’t know so we meet ourselves where we are at, with a curiosity and openness that helps us stay humble, grateful, and maybe even a little patient.
How about you? I’d love to hear what you are learning.
Your husband is a lucky man…I know!
I’m glad you are learning that Neil!
Very funny Neil! I like mine too. He’s pretty funny.
What a great thing to learn and remember Molly!
I have learned we are all in need of compassion more than ever.
Amen Mary!
I have learned to pause and allow unimaginable possibilities into my life.
Hi Lisa,
Good for you! It is working!
